Help Hornsey Foodbank support our community

Hornsey Foodbank exists because of the generosity of our local community.

Every volunteer hour, food donation, financial gift and partnership helps us support people facing food insecurity with dignity and care.

There are many ways you can get involved — whether you have time, resources or expertise to share, your support makes a real difference.

Volunteer

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From sorting donations and packing parcels to welcoming guests and supporting deliveries, there are roles to suit different skills, availability and experience levels.

Our main days of operation are Wednesdays and Thursdays each week.

We set up on Wednesdays, with volunteering shifts from early morning to early evening. These shifts include tasks such as receiving and unpacking deliveries, setting up the hall, moving crates and tables, fruit and vegetable preparation and packing bags for deliveries.

The foodbank is open on Thursdays from 10.15am to 1pm. Volunteers help serve our guests and keep the tables stocked. A separate team clears up after service (1 to 2pm), which involves a mix of carrying and tidying up.

We also have a small team of volunteer phoners and drivers who provide our delivery service to guests who cannot visit the foodbank in person.

We always need volunteers who can contribute in other ways. This could include lending your professional, personal or language skills to ad hoc projects and guest support, or joining one of our working groups (find out more about these here).

If you are interested in volunteering with us and would like some more information, please email us at wearehornsey@gmail.com, or fill out the form below, and we will get back to you.

Donate food

Food donations help us keep our shelves stocked with essential items. By donating food, you’re helping us provide a balanced, practical choice that meets people’s needs. Every item donated supports our neighbours in Hornsey and the surrounding area.

Please drop off your donations at any of the following:

Middle Lane Methodist Church (Middle Lane, London N8 8NT) on Wednesdays between 8am and 2pm or on Thursdays between 9.30 and 10.00am.

Philip Alexander estate agents (52 High St, London N8 7NX and 128 Crouch Hill, London N8 9DY) and David Astbury estate agents (15 Park Rd, London N8 8TE) are very kindly acting as drop-off points for donations. Items can be left with them during business hours.

Donate funds

Financial donations allow us to respond quickly and flexibly to changing needs. Your contribution helps us purchase essential items, cover running costs and ensure the foodbank can continue operating sustainably. Even a small donation can make a big difference.

We work closely with local businesses, schools, faith groups and community organisations. Partnering with Hornsey Foodbank is a meaningful way to support your community through fundraising, regular donations, volunteering opportunities or long-term collaboration.

We could not operate without the incredible generosity of our partners, and we thank them all for their support.
